Welcome to the Research Website of Dr. Shannon Johnson
Research in my Clinical and Cognitive Neuropsychology Lab at Dalhousie University focuses on understanding typical and atypical cognitive and social-cognitive processes. The primary focus of our research is the Autism Spectrum. Through the application of cognitive, neuropsychological, and neuroscience techniques, our goal is to uncover and characterize core differences in cognitive and social functioning in individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. We are particularly interested in the heterogeneity of the autism spectrum and hope that our work will identify mechanisms that may help to tease apart some of the complexity of this spectrum. In addition to my autism research, I also have interests and current projects in Huntington’s Disease and stroke.
